GERING, Nebraska -- Melvina Kohl, 61, of Gering, died Saturday (June 16, 2012).

She was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Cambridge, Nebraska to Allen and Lavonne (Arendell) Frandsen. She attended Indianola Public Schools and graduated from Indianola High School.

She married Lonnie Malleck, in McCook, Nebraska and they made their home in McCook.

In February of 1997, she married Terry Kohl in Gering, Nebraska, and they made their home in Gering.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Lockwoods, a CNA at Beverly Nursing Center and for the past several years, she has worked at Walmart.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; daughter, Suzan (Louie) Rodriquez of Gering; son, Doug Malleck of Ventura, California; brothers, Jim and wife, Deb Cacy and Sam and wife, Mary Frandsen, all of McCook; sister, Connie and husband, Kevin Zander of Louisiana; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and special friends, Janet Hackney and Janet Franke.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 19, 11 a.m. at the Gering Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ed Hunzeker officiating.

Cremation was chosen.
