CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Jean C. Minnick, age 83, of Cambridge, died on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Jean was born in St. Paul, Nebraska. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1946. She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. Jean was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
On June 16, 1948, Jean was united in marriage to Paul Minnick. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2006. Jean worked for the Cambridge Hospital and later as secretary at the Cambridge Public Schools for over 10 years.
Jean was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Research Club. She was known for her fried chicken and kraut dumplings for New Years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, solitaire on the computer and coffee with friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; a son, Tom and a grandson, Brian.
She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Minnick of Sun City, Arizona; three sons, Scott and wife, Mick of Bartley, Philip and wife, Amy of Hardin, Montana and Dr. David and wife, Cathy of Broken Bow, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Robert Barnhill officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.
