HASTINGS, Nebraska -- Hastings resident Theresa M. Gill, 84, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 7 p.m. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska, with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be Thursday, June 14, 2012, 3 p.m. in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Trenton, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 1 p.m. -- 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska or St. James Catholic Church, Trenton, Nebraska. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
Theresa was born Feb. 3, 1928, to Fred & Edna (Schmale) Rotter at Trenton, Nebraska. She graduated from Trenton High School with the Class of 1945. Theresa was appointed Hitchcock County Treasurer Feb. 3, 1953, after having served as Chief Deputy for more than six years. She was later elected to the following four 4-year terms and resigned after being married to Dale E. Gill on July 20, 1968; then moving to Hastings, Nebraska. Theresa later was employed by the Adams County Clerk for 21 years, retiring March 1991.
Dale and Theresa enjoyed some traveling after they both retired. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Altar Society, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hastings.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Dale on March 24, 2009; parents; step-father, Lloyd Riley; and sister, Wilma Jane Rubenthaler.
Survivors include step-son, Ralph Gill, Hastings, Nebraska; sisters, Marcella Frakes, Lancaster, California, Mary Downey, Scottsbluff, Nebraska; brothers, Francis Rotter, Sun City, Arizona, Bill Riley, Ord, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
