Willa McBride

IMPERIAL, Nebraska -- Willa Ann McBride was born in McCook, Nebraska, on May 30, 1947, to William (Hooker, as he was known) and Alberta (Scott) Schroder. After the death of her father, the family was joined by step-father; Gilbert J. Schneider. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1965. On June 5, 1965, Willa was united in marriage to Robert Samuel McBride and they made their home on the Wauneta South Divide.

Willa was an avid card player, spending many years playing with various bridge clubs and enjoyed a good game of pitch. She enjoyed following the school activities of her children and grandchildren. Willa spent many years as a field coordinator with Youth for Understanding foreign exchange Program and the last 25 years as a working manager/ owner/ and operator of her business, Veils Unlimited, in Wauneta.

Willa passed away Friday morning, June 8th, 2012, at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska. She was 65 years of age.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert S. McBride; son: Robert W. McBride and wife, Trine, of Wayne, Nebraska; daughters, Marci Cummins and husband, Jos, of Culbertson, Nebraska and Nikki Banzhaf and husband, Kenneth, of Indianola, Nebraska; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Sharon O'Neil and husband, Michael, of Fountain, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Madolyn Morris and husband, Bob, of Northglenn, Colorado, Doretta Anderson and husband, Harold, of Wauneta, Nebraska, Colleen Garton and husband, Ben, of Windsor, Colorada and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willa was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alberta; step-father, Gilbert Schneider; granddaughter, April Hamilton Redfield; brother-in-law, Richard Nordhausen, and special nephew, Andy Anderson

Graveside inurnment services will be Saturday, June 16, 2012, 3:30 p.m.. (MST) at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebraska, with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
