ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Margaret I. Walker, 89, of Arapahoe, died Saturday (June 2, 2012), at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922, at the family farm north of Edison, Nebraska, in Furnas County, Nebraska, to Melvin and Mabel (Musik) Fisher.
She attended a rural school in the community where she lived and graduated from Holbrook High School. On June 23, 1946, she married Herbert Walker in Norton, Kansas. They adopted a two-year-old boy, David Alan. He was diagnosed with an incurable disease and much of her time was spent caring for him until his death on Nov. 21, 1968.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert, in 1993; her son, David Alan; an infant sister, Helen; and two brothers, Preston Fisher and Floyd Fisher.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Maxine Fisher of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Delores Fisher of Arapahoe and 17 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.
