OBERLIN, Nebraska -- Dale D. Young, 88, died Saturday (June 2, 2012) at Dectur County Health Systems in Oberlin.
He was born April 5, 1923, in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, to William and Lizzie (Switzer) Young. He was raised in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. He attended Rimersburg Grade School and Emlenton High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Oberlin Methodist Church.
He married Eris M. Wenger on Dec. 28, 1945, at Lund Covenant Church in rural Oberlin.
He was employed at Young Construction Company and Dale's Fish and Fun.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eris Young; parents, William and Lizzie Young; two brothers, Chester Campbell and Frank Cowan; and two sisters, Amanda Stahlman-McGinnis and Zelia Campell Anthony Martin.
Survivors include son, Gary and wife, Nancy Young of Manhatten, Kansas; daughters, Candace and husband, Joe Dejmal and Terri and husband, Bob Woolsey, both of Oberlin; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, June 6, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Willey officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday after 8 a.m. at the church.
Donations may be given to the Oberlin United Methodist Church.
