Clarence D. Hoppas

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Clarence D. Hoppas, 92, died Thursday (May 31, 2012) at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Oberlin, to Tolle and Janie (Penn) Hoppas. He was raised on a farm south of Oberlin. He attended Summit County School and Decatur Community High School, graduating in 1938.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tolle and Janie Hoppas; two sisters, Estel Macy and Nellie White, one brother, Virgil Hoppas, and nephews, Ray White and Steven Hoppas.

Surviviors include nephews, Don White and Donald White, both of Aurora, Colorado; nieces, Phylis (Doran) Moyer of Brush, Colorado, Alice and husband, Joe Kasson of Wilsonville, Nebraska, Janet and husband, Harvey Jacoby of Loveland, Colorado, Glenna and husband, Terry Clapper of Vona, Colorado, and Merla and husband, Dennis Stanke of Goodland, Kansas; two great-nephews, Jeremy and wife, Barbara Hoppas of Olathe, Kansas, and Justin and wife, Debora Hoppas of Hayville, Kansas, and his nephew's wife, Elizabeth White of Johnstown, Colorado.

Services are Tuesday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with the Rev. Kirk Kasson officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery. Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Tuesday, 8 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Museum.
