Mark Leon Forgue
Jan. 3, 1952 - May 24, 2012
HOUSTON, Texas -- Mark Leon Forgue was born Jan. 3, 1952, to Medis "Cricket" and Mary Virginia (Schaaf) Forgue in McCook, Nebraska. He died May 24, 2012, in Houston, Texas, while undergoing treatment for cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sheree (Brooks) Forgue of Lincoln and two children, Paxton Forgue of San Francisco and Megan Forgue of Lincoln; one sister, Lynn and husband, Greg Burns of Kearney; two nieces, Erika and husband, John Riggens and children, Ian, Issac and Zoey of Starkville, Mississippi, and Crickett Burns of Denver, Colorado; a very special aunt, Leona Haase of Great Bend, Kansas; his much loved mother-in-law, LaVera Brooks of McCook; and sister and brother-in-laws, Cindy (Brooks) and Bob McConville of Indianola, Michelle (Brooks) and Leonard Wood of Maywood; nephew and niece-in-laws, Jason and Jenni McConville and Nicole McConville, of Indianola, Brenda McConville of North Platte, Justin and Josette McConville of Kearney, Stephanie and Jason Neseth of Bartley and Jaime Halsey of Omaha, Nebraska; several great nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Cricket and Mary Forgue, and his nephew-in-law, Rob McConville.
Mark graduated from McCook Public Schools in 1970. He attended McCook Community College, Kearney State College and Southeast Community College. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 10 years before becoming a banker and a stock broker. In 1997 he realized he really disliked paperwork and being in an office. He went back to college and got a degree in Land Surveying and worked for the State of Nebraska until his death.
He and Sheree Brooks were married on the island of Antigua and fell in love with the Caribbean Islands and the laid back way of life. They enjoyed traveling, until Mark decided they should spend their vacations remodeling their home in Lincoln. Before moving to Lincoln, Mark and Sheree lived in Kearney and Hershey.
Mark loved food and was a gourmet cook. Sunday dinners were a tradition that Pax and Megan tried never to miss. The Brooks and the Forgue holiday dinners, as well as the extended family reunions, will never again be the same without Mark to create them.
He enjoyed guns and hunting, especially deer hunting with Paxton on the land he and Sheree owned at Beverly, Nebraska. One of his favorite things to do was ride over the hills, 'checking the wells'.
Mark never met a stranger, he was interested in everyone he met. And he was very passionate about his political views. But he was most passionate about his wife, Sheree, and his children, Paxton and Megan. They were the center of his world. He loved well, and was well loved.
