CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Rachel E. Gallatin, 73, died Monday (May 21, 2012), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born March 23, 1939 in Haigler, Nebraska, to Clarence and Ida (Redden) Sass. She was raised in Haigler.

She resided in Oberlin, Kansas, and Cambridge. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Royal Neighbors.

She married Darold Vardemire. After his death, she married Dean Gallatin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ida Sass; first husband, Darold Vardemire, second husband, Dean Gallatin; brothers, Paul, Arthur and Wesley Sass; and sister, Margeret Kunkel.

She is survived by brother, William Sass of Grand Junction, Colorado; two sisters, Freda and husband Darryl Hosick of Stockville, Nebraska, and Nancy and husband, Dennis Korrick of Oregon.

Services are Friday, May 25, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, Kansas, with the Rev. David Feddern officiating. Interment is at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska.

Visitation is Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service, at Pauls Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in her name.
