Jack was born to Edward and Margaret (Ryan) Shannon on Nov. 8, 1912, at Hartford, Connecticut. He moved with his family to Omaha when he was six, where he attended Creighton Prep School.

Jack met and married Stacia (Anastasia) Horky on May 25, 1938, in Omaha. They moved to Aurora, Colorado, and lived there for 62 years.

During the depression he found work through the government Civil Conservation Corps, C.C.C., in California cutting trees for a sum of $30 dollars a month, sending $25 dollars home to his family. He was the general chairman for the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).

Jack enjoyed golf, fishing. playing cards (most of all poker), and bowling of which he became a member of the Denver's Bowlers Hall of fame. He was a kind and gentle man, always helping others when ever he could and always looking out for his fellow workers on the railroad. He had the best sense of humor and told great stories, which everyone would love to hear. He'll be missed by all who knew him!
