OBERLIN, Kansas -- Dennis J. Wurm, 71, died Thursday (April 5, 2012) at Oberlin.

He was born April 6, 1940, to E. J and Iris (Fourtner) Wurm in Decatur County, Kansas.

He was raised on a farm near Oberlin. He was in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960.

He married Patricia Stapp on Feb. 2, 1961. He was a self employed welder and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. J. "Swede" and Iris Wurm; brother, Robert Wurm and sister-in-law, Peggy Wurm.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Wurm of Oberlin; sons, Charles and wife, Sharon Wurm of Staplehurst, Nebraska and Kevin Wurm of Bayard, Nebraska; brothers, Steve Wurm of Missoula,Montana; brother-in-law, Robert and wife, Sandra Stapp of Danbury, Nebraska; sisters, Beverly and husband, Eugene Witt of Danbury and Jeanette and husband, Vernon Diederich of Oberlin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were today, April 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Bradley Rick officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.
