LEXINGTON, Nebraska -- Ida Marie Nicholson age 78, died April 4, 2012, at the Lexington Regional Health Center, Lexington, Nebraska.

Ida was born on Jan. 1, 1934, in Danbury, Nebraska to John and Nellie May (Thomas) Haag. She was the eighth of nine brothers and sisters. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1952. She was married to Duane Custer and to that union four children were born: Duane, David, Sherri and Tammy. On May 26, 1967, she was united in marriage to Dewayne Nicholson, to this marriage a son, Tim was born. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2003.

Ida enjoyed embroidery, reading and collecting pictures of family. She loved being a grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne Nicholson; parents, John and Nellie Haag; brothers, John, Leo, Virgil, Joe, and sister Mary; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Haag, Betty Haag, Frankie Haag, and Helen Haag; and brothers-in-law, Joe Logan and Simon Duron.

Ida is survived by son, Duane Custer (Barbara) of Salina, Kansas; grandson, Tyler (May) and granddaughter Lindsay; daughter, Sherri Douglas (Gary) of Topeka, Kansas, grandson, Shane (Brandi); great grandson, Zachary; son, David Custer (Karen) of Cambridge, Nebraska; grandsons, Kyle and Brian; daughter, Tammie Greenlee (Rick) of Bartley, Nebraska; granddaughter, Erin; grandsons, Logan and Derek; son, Tim Nicholson (Sabrina) of Curtis, Nebraska; grandson, Levi and granddaughter, Haley; sisters, Caroline Duron of Halstead, Kansas, Nellie Shay of Edmonds, Washington, and one brother, Cyrus Haag of McCook, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on Monday, April 9, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Father Robert Barnhill officiating. Interment will be in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Nebraska. Memorials may be left in Ida's name at the mortuary.
