James E. 'Jim' McConnell

TRENTON, Nebraska -- James E. "Jim"McConnell died Wednesday(April 4, 2012), at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton at the age of 90.
He was born at Trenton on May 22, 1921, the son of the late Frank and Mearl (Haegan) McConnell. Jim grew up on the family farm and graduated from Trenton High School fin 1938. On Jan. 21, 1942, Jim, inarried Barbara Bentley atMcCook.
Jim entered the United States Navy serving during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to farming at Trenton. where he raised Hereford cattle and various crops.
He loved horses which he rode and used to work his cattle. He served on the Trenton School Board and was a member of the Trenton Fire Board for several years. He was a life member of the American, Legion Post 337 and the VFW Post 9155 at Stratton, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Mack, who died in 1977.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara and one son, Harold McComell and wife, Shirley all of Trenton; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Arazella Danner of Florida; relatives and friends,
Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, April 7, 3 p.m. at the Trenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Herrmann n Funeral Home in Trenton on Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and until time for service on Saturday.
Memorials may be given in his name and left at the funeral home.
