OBERLIN, Kansas -- Loyd Waldo, 82, died Wednesday (March 21, 2012), at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.

He was born April 6, 1928, to Clifton and Ida Mae (Barr) Waldo in Decatur County, Kansas.

He was raised in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1946.

He married Mary Taylor Aug. 3, 1949, in Denver, Colorado.

He was a farmer and dairyman. He was a member of United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge in Oberlin and the Elks Lodge in McCook,Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jeri Dee; five siblings, Glen, Ralph, Dale, Gladys Scott and Genola Claussen; and four half-siblings, Dwight, Grace Norton, Mabel Hanson and Marie Birdsel.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Oberlin; daughters, Jana (Byron) Oliver, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Susan (Michael) Wright, of Lawrence; sister-in-law, Myrtle Waldo, of Oberlin; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Oberlin with the Revs. Linda Willey and Mike McVay officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

The casket will be closed to the public, but friends may sign the memorial book on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon at the funeral home

Memorials may be given to the church.
