McCOOK, Nebraska -- Carol A. Gregory Helm, 85, of McCook, died Saturday March 10, 2012, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska after a short illness with cancer.

She was born Dec. 5, 1926, on a farm near Danbury, Nebraska to Absalom and Isabelle (Ruby) Gregory. Carol grew up and graduated from Danbury High School in 1944. She married Malcolm Thomas in 1946 and three sons were bom to this union, Daniel, Eugene (Peach), and Edward Thomas.

On March 9, 1958, she was united in marriage to Griffin L. Helm. Carol and Griff enjoyed farm life near Danbury. One daughter was born to this union, Carolyn Helm (Lee).

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Malcolm Thomas and Griff Helm; son, Daniel Thomas (MIA in 1971 and declared dead in 1979); a sister, Norma Gregory.

Carol moved to McCook in 1990. She was active in McDonald Ryan Unit Post 276 for 46 years. Other organizations she was imvolved in were Royal Neighbors and the Presbyterian Women's Association.

Survivors include sons, Eugene (Peach) and wife, Cathy of Albright, West Virginia, Edward and wife, Linda of McCook, Nebraska; daughter, Carolyn and husband, Darryl Lee of McCook, Nebraska; sisters, Joyce Weyeneth of McCook, Nebraska and Lorraine Hartman of Arvada, Colorado; grandchildren, Chase and wife Lori Beeby of McCook, Nebraska, Tenneille and husband, Travis Groz of Torrington, Wyoming, Evan Thomas of Naples, Colorado, Danielle and husband, Jake Benson of Bennington, Nebraska, Phillip Thomas and wife, Shelly of Aurora, Nebraska, Jena and husband, Jeff Psota of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jessica and husband, Ken Thomas of McCook, Nebraska, Angela and husband, Michel Hitt of Danbury, Nebraska, Christina and special friend Toby (Jesse) Hayden of McCook, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Logan Groz; Cassiddy and Cadde Beebe; Lauryn and Sydney Thomas; Addison Psota, Haylee, Julee and Makenlee Thomas; Joshua and Addilyn Hitt. Many more family members and friends will mourn Carol's passing.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook, Nebraska with Pastor Keith Theobald officiating. Interment will be in the Danbury and Marion Cemetery at Danbury, Nebraska.

Visitation will be at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 am. to 9 p.m. Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
