College board to consider 2012-13 costs

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- The Mid-Plains Community College board of governors will discus the annual budget, tuition, fees, room and board rates at a work session Wednesday afternoon, and then consider action on those items at its regular monthly meeting that night.

The work session is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday in Room 200 of the W.W. Wood BUilding on the north campus of North Platte Community College. Other items include review of proposed policies, receiving faculty, staff and student input, a compensation program, extended campuses and the CAST program in McCook, and a future board retreat.

At the regular meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. at the same location, the governors will be asked to set tuition, fees, room and board for the upcoming year.

The board also will consider changes to housing, tuition and fees for students who dropout.

The board also will review bids for a fan wall in the NPCC South Campus, and review potential sports logos and make a recommendation.

The governors also will hear updates on enrollment, the Fire Science program and reviews of the Dental Assisting, Graphic Design and HVAC programs.

A closed session will cover pending litigation, personnel and strategies.

The board will meet again March 28 in North Platte, April 25 in McCook and May 23, and MCC commencement ceremonies are 10 .m. May 11 and 3 p.m. for NPCC ceremonies.
