LOVELAND, Colorado -- Ruth Marie Bellamy went to be with the Lord on Feb. 8, 2012, passing away peacefully in her home in Loveland, Colorado, at the age of 96.
She was born March 23, 1915, in a farmhouse about three miles south of Bertrand, Nebraska to Harry and Mary (Krubak) Slater. She was raised on this farm and attended school in Phelps County, where she received her diploma in 1929. Four years later, on Dec. 11, 1933, she married Horace Bellamy. They farmed in the Moorefield area until 1935, when they moved to Denver, Colorado, where Horace worked for Gates Rubber Company. They returned to Nebraska in 1944 and farmed near Bartley until 1954, when they moved to Cambridge, where Horace worked as an auto mechanic. Ruth worked as a nurse's aide at the Cambridge hospital where her favorite part was helping to deliver babies. She eventually joined Horace in working for State Farm Insurance for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Loveland.
Ruth and Horace had two sons, Gailord and Robert, by whom she was blessed with five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, as well as two step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great grandson.
She is preceded in death by Horace, Gailord, and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by son, Robert and wife, Pat Bellamy; daughter-in-law, Sharon Bellamy; and grandchildren, Kent (and Mary) Bellamy, Loraine (and Jeff) Hartig, Candys (and Roger) Sinden, Robin (and Steve) Collins, and Robert (and Elizabeth) Bellamy. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Rogene.
Ruth loved working in the garden, fishing, bowling, making quilts, cooking, playing games, feeding squirrels, and especially spending time with family.
Services will be in Cambridge at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
