TRENTON, Nebraska -- Iola M. Berger passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 94.

She was born Aug, 27, 1917, in Hitchcock County, Nebraska, the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Makings) Owens. She grew up in Hitchcock County and graduated from Cornell rural school.

On June 18, 1936, Iola married Loyd J. Berger at Oberlin, Kansas. They spent their married lives farming south of Trenton, Nebraska.

She was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church, Idle Hour Club, The Methodist Conimunitv Quilters and the Trenton Recreation.

She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd on June 6, 1990; her parents; four brothers, Francis, Melvin, Wilber and John Owens Jr.; and one sister, Nila Dewey.

Iola is survived by her daughter, Dana Chambers and husband, Dennis of Culbertson, Nebraska, grandsons, Levi and wife, Alisha and Brody and wife, Hillary and two great grandsons, Ashton and Kevin; one sister, Viola Frick of Herndon, Kansas; sister-in-law, Betty Owens of Eckley, Colorado; and numerous nieces nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Trenton with Pastor Tim Roberts officiating, Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Herrmann Ftmeral Home in Trenton on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
