SUTHERLAND, Nebraska --Evelyn Belle Hansen, 87, of Sutherland died Thursday (Jan. 26, 201), at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.

Shewas born Feb. 1, 1924, to Merrit Weston and Gertrude Mae Griffith Quick at Quick, Nebraska, where she grew up. She graduated from the School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska, in 1941.

On Feb. 14, 1942, She married Robert Alfred Hansen at Oberlin, Kansas, and they made their home on the farm. While her husband was in Korea she taught school at Marion, Nebraska, until he returned from the military. She later worked at the McCook Community Hospital as a nursing assistant.

She was a past member of McCook United Methodist Church and a member of Garden Prairie United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and had taught Sunday school.

Survivors include her three sons, Derrell (Jane) Hansen, of Katy, Texas, Don (Connie) Hansen, of Hershey, Nebraska, and Billy Hansen, of McCook, Nebraska; four daughters, Sandra (Larry) Staberg, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Debra (Don) Kreis, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Jeanette (Steve) Graff, of Lincoln, and Gina (Steve) Lee, of Sutherland; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrit and Gertrude Quick; three brothers, Aaron, Clifford and Robert Quick; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Cupp Hansen; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Hansen.

Funeral services were Sunday, at the Garden Prairie United Methodist Church at Quick, with Pastor Lana Fong officiating. Burial was at the Quick Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Garden Prairie United Methodist Church.
