NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- LeVeda Opal (Burton) Heagney, 84, of North Platte, died Sunday, (Jan. 22, 2012), at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 7, 1927, on the family farm north of Bartley, Nebraska to Levi Francis Burton and Lota Faye (Wymore) Burton.
On Sept. 23, 1944, she married John Richard Heagney and they had three children. They lived in Curtis, Nebraska, and then moved to North Platte in 1967.
On July 18, 1995, she married Jesse Warren Ross.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and St. Patrick's Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a grandson, Scott Allan Heagney.
Survivors include sons, Francis (Jackie) Heagney of Gillette, Wyoming and Gerald (Carol) Heagney of Arvada, Colorado; a daughter, Pamela (Michael) Cain of North Platte; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
A Christian wake service is Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte with the Rev. James Golka officiating. Burial is at the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Indianola, Nebraska, at 3 p.m.
Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, which is in charge of the arrangements.
