Elwood L. Bailey
NORTON, Kansas --Elwood L. Bailey, 86, died Saturday (Jan. 14, 2012) at Andbe Home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Kanona, Kansas, to Elvin and Mabel (Rohan) Bailey.
He was raised in Jennings and attended school in Jennings and Kanona. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He married Norine Fiala on April 9, 1947, in Oberlin, Kansas.
He resided in Jennings until November 2008, then moved to Norton.
He was member of the American Legion Post No. 351, VFW, Eagles Lodge and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Mabel and brothers, Francis and Elmoin.
He is survived by his wife, Norine Bailey of Norton; son, Charles Bailey of Beloit, daughter, Debbie and David Graham of Norton; sister, Geraldine Packer of Norton, two sisters-in-law, Mary Carper of Jennings and Marguerite Bailey of Oberlin; five grandchildren, one step-grandson and eight great-grandchlldren.
Services will be at the Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment will be at the Jennings Cemetery.
Vigil service is at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville.
Memorials can be given to the Jennings American Legion Post No. 351 or the Andbe Home.
Visitation is Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and 5-8 p.m. at the church in Leoville.
Pauls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
