Vernon C. LeMon

McCOOK, Nebreaska -- Vernon Cecil LeMon died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 94.

He was brn Jan. 23, 1917, at Free Port, Kansas, the son of the late Arthur and Cora LeMon. He left home at age 14 to support himself and graduated from Anthony Kansas High School in 1936.

Vernon felt the call of the Lord to enter the minestry. He attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, he married to Vemice Ellenore Harsch from Bartley at the Assembly of God Church in McCook on June 23, 1943.

Vernon served churches in Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Arkansas. The LeMons moved to Bella Vista Arkansas in 1974 and retired in 1977. They moved to McCook in 2011.

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice on Jan. 18, 2010, his parents, one sister and four brothers.

Vernon is survived by three nieces, Maurine Pecesky, Ruth McDowell, Janet Kyle, and five nephews, Carol Oxford, Bleyn Oxford, Del Harsh, Steve Harsh and Phil Harsh and many family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m.. Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012, at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Interment will be in the Bartley Cemetery at Bartley, Nebraska. Visitation is today until 9 p.m..

Memorials may be given in his name and left at the funeral home.
