McCOOK, Nebraska --Donna Mae Ruggles, age 88, of McCook, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
Donna was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Hayes County, Nebraska, to parents Isaac (Ike) and Susan Isabell (Belle) (Troxell) Berry. She was one of 10 children. Donna grew up on the family farm in Hayes County, graduating from Hayes Center High School.
Donna married Leslie Ruggles on July 24, 1943. Three children were born to this union: Carol, Hazel and Don. She was a lifetime resident of Southwest Nebraska and also attended the Church of Christ in McCook.
Donna participated in the Good Friends Program at Southwest Elementary School and was a lifetime member of the Better Aims Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and quilting.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Belle Berry; her husband, Leslie Ruggles; three brothers, Albert, Jim and Orley; three sisters, Phoebe, Nelda and Thelma; two grandsons and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her three children, Carol Hauxwell of Culbertson, Nebraska, Hazel (Jim) Bobinmyer of Culbertson, and Don (Theresa) Ruggles of McCook; brother, Myron (Mike) Berry of Ogallala, Nebraska; two sisters, Marcella Peterson of Yakima, Washington and Nona West of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister in law, Sina Ruggles of McCook; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Ami) Hauxwell, Jaime (Heath) Hornecker, Tyler (Jenna) Bobinmyer, Cody Bobinmyer, Lucas Ruggles and special friend, Leah Rabe, Landon Ruggles and special friend, Hailey Eskew, Lesley and Lauren Ruggles; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola, Nebraska.
