BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- Adell J. Yingling passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. She was 88 years old.
Adell was born on June 9, 1923, at Cedar Bluffs, Kansas to Roy and Sylvia (Vernon) Lipsey. She completed school through the 10th grade, at which time she quit to help her father on the farm.
On Dec. 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Yingling at Oberlin, Kansas. To this union a daughter, Charlene Adell, was born.
Adell was a busy homemaker as well as helping her husband on the farm in the Danbury, Bartley and Indianola community. She and Harold both worked at the West Sale Barn in McCook for many years where she worked in the restaurant baking all the pies, waiting tables, and cashier. After moving to Stratton, they became owner/operators of a liquor store where Adell was an integral part of the business for 30 years. She also helped her daughter run the Country Gas and Dairy King in Stratton.
Adell was a member of the Stratton VFW Auxiliary Post 9155. Adell and Harold loved to go dancing and spend time with family and friends. In her free time, she loved to be in her garden, quilting, sewing or just giving her time helping others. In 1978, the Stratton High School Annual was dedicated to Harold and Adell where the children all knew her as Grandma.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy and Sylvia Lipsey; her husband, Harold Yingling on March 1, 1985; son-in-law, Larry "Fritz" Forch, Sr.; and two brothers, Dale and Bob Lipsey.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene Forch of Stratton; granddaughter, Tuesday Forch and great-granddaughter, Jyssica Forch, both of Stratton; grandson, Larry Forch, Jr. and friend, Shannon McAdams, both of Benkelman; sister, Naida Graham of Lincoln; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, from 10:30 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m. MT at the Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m., MT, also at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with Rev. Brian Fong officiating.
