BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Frankie A. John, 71, formerly of Beaver City, died Sunday, (Dec. 11, 2011), at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born May 11, 1940, at Campbellsville, Kentucky, to Frank and Anne (Breeding) Edwards.

She graduated from Paris High School in Paris, Texas. She got her bachelor of science degree and graduate work from East Texas University in Commerce, Texas. She married Jerry John on May 5, 1975, at Norton, Kansas.

She was publisher and editor of the Lenora Leader in Lenora, Kansas, for three years. She returned to East Texas State University where she was a counselor-instructor. She moved to Beaver City in January of 1988 and she and her husband purchased the Beaver City Times-Tribune paper from Daryl and Faye Killough and operated it until selling it to Doug Garey and Travis Theobald on Jan. 1, 1998.

She moved to Kearney in 2004 and 18 months ago, moved to Mt. Carmel nursing home in Kearney.

She was a member of Hollinger Methodist Church and UMW and also taught Bible Studies weekly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry on Jan. 22, 1996, step-father, Milo Carr in 1985 and brother, Elwin in 1974.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Gordon John and his wife, Geneva of Beaver City, two step- brothers, Willard Carr of Norton, Kansas, and Lawrence Carr of Wisconsin; nieces an nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City with the Rev. Linda Knipping officiating. Burial will be at the Hendley Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, from 1-7 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Wednesday.
