GOTHENBURG, Nebraska -- Genevieve Idona Hamilton, 93, died Wednesday (Dec.7, 2011), at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

She was born Oct. 20, 1918, north of McCook, to Charles and Marie (Hansen) Appleyard.

She graduated from Curtis Agricultural School in Curtis, Nebraska in 1935. She enrolled in two years of Normal Training and taught in rural schools in the area for six years.

She married Willard D Hamilton on April 25, 1940, at Oberlin, Kansas.

After her husbands death in 1974, she worked as a Dorm Mom at Western Bible College in Morrison, Colorado. In 1978, she became the Dean of Women at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri and continued there until her retirement in 1988. She moved to Gothenburg where she resided until her death.

She was preceded in death by husband, Willard; her parents; still-born son, Gary Dean; her son, Ron Hamilton and her brother, Lyle Appleyard.

Survivors include daughters, Janice and husband, John Janssen of Gothenburg, Carol and husband, Dennis Brown of Gothenburg, and Joy and husband, Vern Wigle of Chaska, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Mary Hamilton of Chaska; brother, DeVere and wife, Betty, Appleyard of Chicago, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg on Sunday, Dec 11 from 1 until 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at Evangelical Free Church on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 10:30 am with Pastors Rick Rehmert and Robert Litzenberger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska at 2:30 pm.

Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church or donor's choice.
