TRENTON, Nebraska --Sarah Luella McDonald died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton, Nebraska at the age of 92.
She was born March 1, 1919, south of Trenton in the upper Drift Wood Community of Hitchcock County, Nebraska. Luella was the daughter of the late Perry W. and Sadie (Vohs) Sadler.
Luella grew up in Hitchcock County and received her education from the Trenton High School graduating in 1938. On September 3, 1941, Luella married Joy M. McDonald.
She was inducted into the Bethel Chapter, Order of Eastern Star on May 8, 1946, and received her 50-year membership in 1996 and continued her membership until her passing.
Luella was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Trenton where she enjoyed playing the organ. Luella worked as a ward clerk at McCook Community Hospital and a nurses aide at the Central City Nursing Home.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter, Constance; sisters, Loretta Sadler and Donna Mae Sadler, one brother, Perry Sadler Jr. and nephew, Billy Breitling.
Luella is survived by two sons, Meredith W. McDonald and wife, Christine of Wichita, Kansas, and Phil W. McDonald and wife, Judy of Trenton, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton from 9 a.m.. to 9 p.m.. until Wednesday morning.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m.Wednesday at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inumment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
