James William Jacox

MCHENRY, Illinois -- James William "Jake" Jacox, 65, of McHenry and recently of McCook, Nebraska, died Tuesday, (Nov. 29, 2011), at Centegra Hospital - McHenry, with his beloved daughter, Shelly and her husband, Peter Meehan, at his side.

He was born Jan. 2, 1946, in Benkelman, Nebraska to Ernest L. and Lilah M. (Johnston) Jacox.

He graduated from Benkelman High School in 1964. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before joining the U.S. Navy where he served for 13 years, primarily in submarine service. His service to his country included Pearl City, Norwich, Connecticut, Long Beach, and Great Lakes. He retired a Chief.

He is survived by two daughters and four grandchildren, all of McHenry. He is also survived by a brother, David and wife, Jacqueline Jacox of Omaha, Nebraska.

Arrangements are pending at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory.

Interment will be in Edgar, Nebraska.
