AURORA, Nebraska --Sheri L. McGhghy, 57, died Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2011), at the Hamilton Manor.

She was born Oct. 15, 1954, to James and Clariece (Bertram) Seachord, in Colby, Kansas.

She grew up in southeast Nebraska and northern Kansas, graduating from Washington, Kansas in 1972.

She was united in marriage to Larry McGhghy on Aug. 22, 1974, at Washington, Kansas. The couple resided in Hebron where they became parents to two children, Jason and Michelle. She was a dispatcher for the Thayer County Sheriff's office. They moved to Harvard for a short while and then to Plattsmouth, where she worked as a janitor for the Plattsmouth High School. They resided for a short time in Washington, Kansas and then in Cambridge, Nebraska, where she again worked as a dispatcher for the Furnas County Sheriff's Office and for the Heritage Plaza as a house keeper. They moved to Hamilton County, Nebraska and made their home on an acreage south and west of Hampton for the past 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her father-in-law, Clarence McGhghy and sister-in-law, Patricia (Dunn) McGhghy.

Survivors include her husband, Larry McGhghy of Hampton; her children, Jason McGhghy and Michelle (Garren) Stenka, all of Aurora; three grandchildren; father, Jim Seachord of Henderson and two brothers, Alan Seachord of Silver Lake, Washington and Nicholas Seachord of Henderson; mother-in-law, Mildred McGhghy; brother-in-law, Gary and wife, Sue McGhghy; nephews, neices and aunts..

A memorial service will be today, Nov. 29, 2011, at 1 p.m.. at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. Private inurnment will precede the services.
