CAMBRIDGE Nebraska -- Zephie Irene Brush, age 92, died at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege on Nov. 22, 2011.

She was born on March 18, 1919 in Arapahoe, Nebraska to Dean Glenn and Mabel (West) Colony. Zephie attended school in Holbrook, graduating from Holbrook High School in 1936.

Zephie was married to Tom Downey on Jan. 20,1939. To this union six children were born: Paul, Robert, Sam, Thomas, George and James. On Oct. 26, 1960, she was married to Warren O. Brush. To this union a son, Wesley Dean, was born.

Zephie was employed by the Minnick Hospital and later the Cambridge Long Term Facility for many years as a nurse's aide. Zephie was a member of the Bartley American Legion Auxiliary Unit 245.

She enjoyed word search puzzles, quilting, crocheting and was an avid reader.

Zephie was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons, George Downey and Wesley Brush; stepson, Gaylard Brush and a brother, Chester Colony.

She is survived by her sons, Paul, Robert, Thomas and Jim; daughter, Sara; step-childre, Donald; Bethene and Larry; grandchildren; great grandchildren; step-grand children and great-grandchildren. Also a very dear friend Glayds Earl.

Funeral services will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sherry Sklenar officiating. Interment will be in the Bartley Cemetery, Bartley, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be left in Zephie's name to either the Bartley City Library or the Bartley Legion Auxiliary.
