ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Marlyn J. Herron, 77, of Holbrook, Nebraska, died on Wednesday (Nov. 16, 2011), at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1934, at Artesian, South Dakota to Andrew and Marie B. (Breen) Herron.
He grew up in Pierre, South Dakota. After his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954, and served until 1957. He then moved to Hastings, Nebraska and worked for Western Land Rollers and Dutton Lainson.
He married Angeline Braunagel in Yakima, Washington. He became a Star route driver, delivering the mail for central and western Nebraska for 19 years.
His wife Angeline passed away on Dec. 17, 1987. He married Joann Raastad on June 30, 1994. They made their home in Holbrook, Nebraska.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Angeline; daughters, Theresa Jeffres, Angie Nelson, Susan Herron; sons, Marlyn Herron Jr. and James Herron; sister, Gladys Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Herron of Holbrook; sons, Arthur and wife, Tabi Herron of Lexington, South Carolina, Joe Herron of Holbrook; daughter, Paula Fahnholz of Dannebrog, Nebraska; step-son, Jason and wife, Jess Rastaad of Tilden, Nebraska; brothers, Calvin and wife, Mary Sweet of Edison, Nebraska and Marvin Herron of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren:
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Military rites presented at the graveside.
Viewing and visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the church.
