ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Donald Joseph Jeffres, 74, of Upland, Nebraska died Saturday, (Nov. 5, 2011), at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Kearney, Nebraska.

He was born on May 30, 1937, at Ogallala, Nebraska to Ralph and Evangeline (Jasnoch) Jeffres.

He grew up at Ogallala and graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1955. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he was a farm manager at Wauneta, Nebraska. After several years, he moved to Culbertson, Nebraska and became a feed salesman for Purina.

He married Charlotte Warner-Linner on April 22, 1978 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in the Gibbon, Nebraska area in 1980. He worked at YRTC in Kearney, Nebraska for the next 20 years before retiring.

He and his wife moved to Upland, Nebraska in the fall of 2010. His wife Charlotte died on March 19, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Charlotte; and brother, Teddy Jeffres.

He is survived by his daughters, Chris and husband, Jack Rubenthaler of Kearney, Barb Linner of Kearney; sons, Jeff and wife, Tammy Linner of Upland, Nebraska, Dave Jeffres of Upland, Dan and wife, Alice Jeffres of Lawson, Missouri, Craig Linner of Wimberly, Texas, Scott Linner of Upland; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, in Kearney with the Rev. Joseph Hannappel officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Arapahoe Cemetery, at Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Viewing will be one hour prior to the start of the Mass at the church.
