ATWOOD, Kansas -- Laddie Kacirek, 90, died Friday (Oct. 28, 2011), in Decatur County, Kansas.

He was born Feb.13, 1921, in Atwood, Kansas to Theo and Josephine (Chleborad)

He attended grade school at North Star Country School and graduated from M.R.H. S in 1939.

On Jan. 15, 1946, he married Vera Harper. They built a home north of McDonald, Kansas and had three children, Douglas, Linda Susan, and David.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bird City, the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Workmen.

They moved to Atwood and were members of Sacred Heart Parish. They moved to their new home at Oberlin Good Samaritan in April 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and son, Doug.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Vera; son, David and wife, Becky, daughter, Susie and husband, R.J. Sabatka; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis and husband, Kenneth Wilkinson; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov.1, 2011, at Sacred Heart Cathollc Church in Atwood with the Revs. Nick Parker and Roger Melti officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery In Atwood.

Visitation is today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday, after 9 a.m. until service time, at the church.

The rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be addressed in his name, to be designated at a later date.
