McCOOK, Nebraska -- Wayne Harold Reiners passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at his rural McCook home. He was 80 years old.

Wayne was born on April 14, 1931, near Indianola to Albert H. and Clara W. (Esch) Reiners. He attended rural school through eighth grade and completed his high school education after entering the service.

On March 27, 1952, he entered the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 18, 1954, and continued to serve his country another eight years in the Army Reserves.

On Feb.17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Geyer in McCook. To this union three children were born.

Wayne was owner and operator of McCook Glass and Mirror until his retirement in 1990. He was united in marriage to Heddy Loueen Ulrich in Las Vegas, Nevada on Oct. 11, 1990. To this union four more children were added to his family.

Wayne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, McCook Eagle's and Elk's Lodge, and American Legion. He was an avid bowler, Husker fan, gardener, and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and canine friend, his Schnauzer, Buddy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and Clara Reiners; sister, Dorothy and husband, Alvin Leibbrandt; and brother, Kenneth Reiners and wife, Sarah.

Survivors include his wife, Heddy Reiners of McCook; children, Kelley and husband, Dallas Watkins, of Benkelman, Cathy Doyle of McCook, and Craig Reiners of McCook; step-children, Bev and husband, Russ Schlager, of McCook, Larry Hein of McCook, Lynda Weiman of Littleton, Colorado, and Becky and husband, Brad DaMoude of Hershey; his sister, Orian and husband, Delbert Fritz, of Bartley; six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; numerous family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name to Peace Lutheran Church or McCook Community Hospice.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, from 1-8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m.. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
