McCOOK, Nebraska -- Stanley Lee "Ole" Ohlson died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 82.

He was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Bartley, Nebraska, the son of the late Carl and Lillian (Bede) Ohlson. Stan grew up in Bartley where he attended Bartley High School.

He entered the United States Navy in 1948 and was discharged in 1950.

He returned to Nebraska where he married Elda Louise Houghtelling on May 13, 1955, in Imperial. They spent their married lives in McCook where Ole worked for 20 years for Butler Beef Acres and 40 years for Hastings Grain Inspection.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife Elda; one son, DeWayne D.; four brothers, Harold, Donald, Elburn and Gerald; and one sister, Bonell Romine.

He is survived by one son, William Ohlson of McCook; two daughters, Cynthia Catchings of McCook, and Renee Ohison of North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law and special companion, Lavonne Ohlson of McCook; seven grandchildren, Rhea, Melissa, Sara, Tyler, Kelsey, Corey and Michael; two great grandchildren, Timothy and Owen; relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Terry McCorkle officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in his name and visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
