COLBY, Kansas -- Loren D. Turner, 85, died Sunday (Aug. 21, 2011), in Phillips County, Kansas.
He was born June 17, 1928, at Menlo, Kansas, to Ralph Vernon and Iva (Barnhart) Turner. He was raised and educated in Menlo.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a trucker, custom harvester and a farmer.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows in Rexford, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wilma "Billie" Turner; a brother, Dale Turner; and five sisters, Rosie, Esther, Opal, Myrtle and Ethel.
Survivors include two sons, Ron and wife, Pam Turner of Scott City, Kansas, and Kerry and wife, Barb Turner of Colby; two daughters, Sheryl and husband, Ed Cersovsky of Colby and Marilyn and husband, Tom Rogers of Wichita; a sister, Mary Twonsend of Salina, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services at the Menlo Cemetery will be announced later.
Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin is in charge of arrangements.
