H. Stuart Euhus

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Henry Stuart Euhus was born Dec. 31, 1928, at the family farm west of Oberlin, Kansas, to Henry F. G. and Hildegard (Lueders) Euhus. He passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 82.
Stuart and his three sisters were reared on the farm in Sappa Township west of Oberlin. Stuart attended St. John's Parochial School in rural Decatur County and graduated from St. John's Lutheran Academy in Winfield, Kansas. He then served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
While serving in the military, Stuart met his future wife, Martha A. Noles. They married Aug. 15, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina. They moved to the family farm and raised four children there.
Stuart was proud of the heritage passed on to him as a farmer and man of faith. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin, serving in all offices of the church, and member of Gideons International. Over the years, Stuart enjoyed working with his cattle, being a handyman and teaching Bible classes to the elderly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Martha, on Oct. 29, 2003.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, H. Kent and Diana Euhus of Oberlin and Bradley and Melody Euhus of Carol Stream, Illinois; two daughters and their husbands, Dana and Robert Morton of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Gail and Michael Harvey of Lamar, Colorado; three sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Gaylord Shields of Oberlin, Deanie and Stan Moore of Montgomery, Texas, and Patricia and Forrest Junod of Sacramento, California; eight grandchildren, Sheena Conley, Shad Morton, Lindsey Euhus, Brock Euhus, Addison Euhus, Rhiannon Euhus, Aeriel Euhus and Zebadiah Harvey; two step-grandchildren, Brian and Todd Harvey; two great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
Celebrating the Life of H. Stuart Euhus with funeral services are today, 2:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin, Kansas with the Rev. Rick Rostek officiating. Music is provided by organist, Dianne Bremer. The congregational hymns are "A Mighty Fortress," No. 657; "My Faith Looks Up to Me," No. 702; and "Lift High the Cross," No. 837.
Casket bearers are Sheena Conley, Shad Morton, Lindsey Euhus, Brock Euhus, Addison Euhus, Aeriel Euhus, Rhiannon Euhus, Zeb Harvey, Brian Harvey and Todd Harvey.
Memorials may be made to the H. Stuart Euhus Memorial Fund
His final resting place is at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Oberlin.
