GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska -- Jason Allan Cline, 39, died Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2011) at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

He was born July 1, 1972, in Grand Island, the son of Roger and Elizabeth (Peterson) Cline. He grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Northwest High School with the Class of 1991.

He was active in the scouts, including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, where he was an Eagle Scout. His scout projects included building bridges and an enclosure for the pop machine at Stolley Park Zoo. He was seriously injured on a scouting trip to Philmont, New Mexico, on July 24, 1986, and was saved by fellow scouts.

He began his employment with Chief Industries following high school; beginning in the buildings division, later moving to fabrication. At the time of his death, he worked for Standard Iron doing different fabrication jobs and most recently worked in the programming department.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Elizabeth Cline of Grand Island; sister, Paige and husband, Alan Gibreal of Grand Island; brother, Ramon and wife, Carrie Cline of Aurora, Colorado; grandfather, William Cline of Grand Island; and extended family including those in Southwest Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ada Cline; and maternal grandparents, Alfred F. and Ethel Peterson.

Funeral services are Tuesday, 11 a.m., at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Sylvia Karlsson officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation is today, 4-7 p.m., at Apfel Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
