McCOOK, Nebraska -- Frank N. Skinner, 72, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.
Frank was born April 7, 1939, in Trenton, Nebraska to parents Archie Lothair and Alice L. (Miller) Skinner. He was one of three children born to this union. Frank attended school in Trenton, graduating from Trenton High School in 1957. Following his graduation, Frank served his country in the United States Navy.
In 1962, Frank married his first wife, Charlene Seybold. The couple had one daughter, Christy Zwickle.
On Aug. 5, 1972, Frank married Gladys Rathe of Culbertson, Nebraska. Frank and Gladys had one daughter, Melodie. The family made their home in the McCook area where Frank was employed by the REA for 35 years.
Frank enjoyed woodworking, Nebraska Cornhusker football, hunting and fishing. He loved to visit with family and friends, and was very fond of his grandchildren. Frank was a blood donor for the American Red Cross and also served as a member of the Red Willow County Sheriff's Posse and the American Legion of Trenton.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Archie Skinner.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Skinner of McCook; mother, Alice Skinner of Trenton; daughter, Melodie Reiners and her special friend, Shannon Ziska of Grand Island, Nebraska; brother, Art (Nita) Skinner of McCook; sister, Luella (Dick) Bedlan of Clay Center, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Arlan (Beverly) Rathe of Culbertson; sister-in-law, Florence (Marvin) Pothoff of McCook; and grandchildren, Jessica and Josh Reiners of McCook.
Visitation is Wednesday, 1-8 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
Funeral services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraksa.
