McCOOK, Nebraska -- Rowene Manley was born to Edgar and Edith Myers on Dec. 11, 1929, in Palisade Nebraska; she departed this life at the age of 81, on July 26, 2011, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.

Rowene attended school at Palisade High School and graduated in 1947. She then married James Manley on June 6, 1948, and to this union a son was born.

Rowene spent 40 years as a dispatcher and bookkeeper at the McCook Police Department and was active in the City Credit Union as a treasurer, until it was replaced.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing cards and volunteering at Willow Ridge in her free time. She was a member of First Christian Church, life long member of the Eagles Club and Diamond Rebekah Lodge.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James; parents, Edgar and Edith Myers; brothers, Raleigh Myers, Donald Myers and Carl Myers; and great granddaughter, Aleisha.

Rowene is survived by her son, Gerald "Jerry" and wife, Jessie "Sue" Manley of McCook; grandchildren, Anthony "Bubba" (fiancée Kristi Brown) Manley of Palisade, Kevin (Brendy) Manley of McCook and Valerie (Nathan) Cooper of McCook; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and family.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation is at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home on Friday, 1-8 p.m.

Services are at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, 10 a.m., with Pastor Richard Karr officiating. Inurnment is at a later date.
