Gerald Eldred 'Bud' Beat

GOODING, Idaho -- Gerald Eldred "Bud" Beat, 94, died Friday (July 22, 2011) at Bennet Hills Care Home in Gooding, Idaho.

He was born Dec. 31, 1916, to James Elihu and Martha Rachel Bebb Beat in Erina, Nebraska.

He lived with his parents and brother in Garfield County, Nebraska until 1921, when they moved to a farm northeast of Beaver City, Nebraska.

He married Bessie Jane Bowman on Dec. 26, 1940, in Kimberly, Idaho. To this union five children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Jane Beat; parents; brother, Harold Elden Beat; daughter-in-law, Janis Beat; and granddaughter, Deanna Stevenson Crone.

Survivors include his children, Barbara Walker of Rupert, Idaho, Della and Larry Stevenson of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Jim Beat of Kimberly, Idaho, Dave and Leisa Beat of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and Sheralee and Donnie Goss of McCook, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 5, at the senior center in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. Memorial services are Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Christian Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska.
