Phyll M. Cramer

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Phyll M. Cramer, 88, died Friday (July 15, 2011) at Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.
He was born May 17, 1923 in Decatur County, Kansas, to Hugh and Mable (Beam) Cramer. he was raised on a farm in Decatur County and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1941.
He served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps.
On Jan. 10, 1948, he married Connie West in Oberlin, where they made their home.
He owned Oberlin Locker Plant and worked for the City of Oberlin for 40 years, including being the superintendent for a period of time.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post No. 70, Masonic Lodge No. 186, Isis Temple Shrine, and Salina Scottish Rite. He also served on the city council and was mayor of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Guy Allen; and sister, Elma Ashley.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Cramer of Oberlin; son, William and wife, Sally of Marion, Indiana; daughter, Cathy and husband, Evan Wenger of Aubrey, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Interment is in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday 8 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
