Francis Henry 'Chaz' Janousek

ATWOOD, Kansas -- Francis Henry "Chaz" Janousek, 80, died Wednesday (July 6, 2011), at the Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin, Kansas.

He was born April 7, 1931, at Beardsley, Kansas, to Charles and Lydia (Micek) Janousek.

He graduated from the eighth grade at Saint Mary's Catholic School and attended Herndon High School, graduating in 1949.

He served in the U.S. military

He was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon and was a 21-year member of the American Legion, Sam Hubbard Post No. 46 in Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Donald, Rudolph and Raymond; and a sister, Evelyn.

Survivors include his sisters, Laverne Niemeth of Herndon and Doris Marintzer at Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were today at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Nick Parker officiating. The rosary preceded the service. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.

Memorials may be made to the church.
