ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Ellen Mae Wagner, 92, died Tuesday (June 28, 2011) at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Nov. 3, 1918, near Arapahoe to Clyde L. and Mabel H. (Keeler) Larson.
She was baptized Feb. 9, 1919, and confirmed May 22, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. She went to school at Arapahoe High School and graduated with the class of 1936. She went on to Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska for one year. She then returned to Arapahoe and taught in country schools.
She married Jack Dwight Wagner on April 27, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Arapahoe. While he served in the military during World War II, she worked in the commodities ration office in Arapahoe.
She and her husband founded Wagner's Supermarket in Arapahoe.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shelli Haarberg-Wendland; brothers, James and Charles Larson; and sister, Faye Kahle.
Survivors include her husband, Jack D. Wagner of Arapahoe; daughters, Naomi Ruth Haarberg and husband, Lorris of Arapahoe, Sandra Jean Morse and husband, Larry of Sarasota, Florida, and Sue Ellen Wagner-Bidwell and husband, Bruce of Percival, Iowa; five grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial is at Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe.
Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and Friday, prior to the service at the church.
