Sylvia Dale Rucker

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Sylvia Dale Rucker, 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
Sylvia was born on July 16, 1921, in Maywood, Nebraska, to Isaac Jonathon Delroy and Leila Dale (Barton) Hoschouer. She graduated from Maywood High School in 1939.
On Oct. 20, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ivan Pearl Rucker in McCook. They made their home on a farm between Hayes Center, Nebraska and Maywood where they raised their four children. Sylvia was a busy homemaker, mother, and was an instrumental part of the farming operation.
Sylvia was a member of the Christian Church, Hospital Auxiliary, Harmony and Merry Jane Clubs, Hayes Center Golf Club, and Hayes Center Congregational Quilters. She loved to cook and quilt, giving most of her quilts to family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Del and Leila Hoschouer; her husband, Ivan Rucker in 1984; one son, Jim Rucker; granddaughter, Jamie Rucker; two sisters, Ethel Christensen and husband, Milford and Minnie Huff and husband, Amor; two brothers, Kenneth and Lyle Hoschouer; and brothers-in-law, Bud Snyder and Bud Teel.
Survivors include her two sons, Gary Rucker and wife, Connie of York, Nebraska, and Ron Rucker and wife, Connie of Yankton, South Dakota; daughter, Beverly Elliott of McCook; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Rucker of Hayes, Kansas; one sister, Delma Teel of McCook; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in her name to McCook Christian Church or McCook Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Visitation is Sunday, 4-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6--8 p.m.
Funeral services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Maywood Cemetery.
