CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Shirley Ann Linderholm, 76, born May 22, 1935, to Harold and Lucile Hilton in Cambridge, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at home in Cambridge.

Shirley attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she met and married Robert Linderholm of York in 1956. Born to this union was one son, Karl.

Shirley was an educator (Bachelor of Arts, Wesleyan, 1961, Master of Arts, UNL, 1964), an avid reader, and bridge player. A true progressive, she was an early member of the National Organization for Women (N.O.W.) and Lincoln Unitarian Church.

In 1977, the couple moved to western Nebraska where they remodeled an old farmhouse located on her family's ranchland near Cambridge. Bob and Shirley lived there until 2010. Shirley taught secondary education at schools in Waverly, Lincoln, and Bartley, Nebraska until her retirement.

Survivors include husband, Robert Linderholm of Cambridge; son and daughter-in-law, Karl Linderholm (Lynne Brehm) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Jacob Linderholm, Kyle and Mitchell Renteria, all of Lincoln, Ben of York, Virginia, and Amy Felsher of Maryland; brothers, Gerald Hilton (Gloria) and Kenneth Hilton (Peggy) of Cambridge; sister, Colleen Kamm (Phil) of Kearney, Nebraska; and brother in-law, James Linderholm (Gail) of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
