Harry Milton Krogh
SAVANNAH, Georgia -- Harry Milton Krogh, 81, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Savannah, Georgia.
Harry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley J. Krogh (nee Cramer). He is the proud father of Leslie Krogh-Wisner and husband, Jay and Stephanie Fitzgerald and husband, Dan. His beautiful granddaughters are Sarah Wisner, Shannon Fitzgerald, Kelli Fitzgerald and Bridget Fitzgerald.
Harry was the son of the late Herluf M. and Verda M. (nee Darby) Krogh, formerly of McCook, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jacqueline L. Orban.
Harry graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1951 before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1954. Harry then earned his Certified Public Accountant and began a successful career in business and finance, becoming President of Florsheim Shoe Company in 1981 before moving to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Oshkosh B'Gosh, Inc. before retiring from his long career to spend time with his family.
Harry was active in public service, serving on the executive committee of the St. Louis Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America and as Trustee of St. Louis and Nebraska Wesleyan Universities. Harry served as treasurer of the Kiwanis Club in Savannah, helping to run such events as the annual chili cook-off fundraiser.
Harry was passionate in his eternal pursuit of the perfect golf game and recorded his fifth hole-in-one in January of this year.
Harry deeply loved his family and was a good friend to many. We will all miss his humor, kindness and generosity.
Visitation was held with the family at Fox and Weeks, Hodgson Chapel in Savannah on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2 p.m., with a service following at 3 p.m. Graveside services are Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m., in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Interment will follow services.
