LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Wayne W. Liesemeyer, 80, Lincoln, passed away Tuesday (June 7, 2011) in Lincoln. Born in Syracuse, Nebraska on Feb. 19, 1931; 1949 graduate of Syracuse High School; served in the U.S. Marines as an aviation metal smith; Married to Bette L. Rodgers on April 15, 1957; attended University of Nebraska Lincoln and received a degree in civil engineering on the GI Bill.
He worked for the Soil Conservation Service; father to five children; the family lived in Lincoln, Scottsbluff and McCook, Nebraska.
Wayne will be remembered for his sense of humor and orneriness, and his devotion to his family, especially his wife, Bette. His work at the Soil Conservation Service was a big part of his life and he was passionate about his role in conserving Nebraska water.
He enjoyed working with his hands and always had many project going at the same time. He could fix anything around the house and took pride in doing so. He had a great love for animals and enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
There is no visitation as cremation was chosen.
Memorial services are Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Eastridge Presbyterian Church, 1135 Eastridge Drive, Lincoln. Graveside services will be announced at the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the People's City Mission, 110 Q Street, Lincoln, NE 68501-0636 or Eastridge Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette L. Liesemeyer; parents, William and Mary Liesemeyer; brothers, Virgil, Graydon and Kenneth Liesemeyer.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Alta and Ed Dakolios of Billings, Montana; sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Sally Liesemeyer of Kailua, Hawaii, Kent and Carla Liesemeyer of Tucson, Arizona; son, Scott Liesemeyer and June Kim of Aiea, Hawaii; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Craig Jumps of Culbertson, Nebraska; daughter, Tracy Liesemeyer of Lincoln; and 11 grandchildren, Lincoln Liesemeyer, Katie, Zach, Valerie, Amy, Josh, Emily and Veronica Liesemeyer, Sydney, Lucas and Delaney Jumps.
