Shirley A. Linderholm

CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Shirley A. Linderholm, 76, died Sunday (June 12, 2011) at her home in Cambridge.
She was born May 22, 1935, to Harold and Lucile (Johnson) Hilton. She attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1953. She attended Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in education in 1961. She received her master's degree from the University of Nebraska in English in 1965.
On June 11, 1956, she married Robert Linderholm.
She taught middle school in Waverly, Nebraska and Lincoln at Whittier and Dawes school. Upon retirement in 1977, she and her husband moved to a home in Frontier County, north of Cambridge by 15 miles. They had recently moved to a home in Cambridge at Crosscreek.
She never fully retired as she taught at Twin Valley Schools part-time before teaching German and social studies full-time.
She was active at the Cambridge Thrift Store and as a volunteer for the Tri Valley Health System. She worked at Butler Memorial Library in Cambridge.
She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and was the Nebraska Past President of the National Organization of Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" of Cambridge; one son, Karl and wife, Lynne Brehm Linderholm of Lincoln; one sister, Colleen and husband, Phil Kamm of Kearney; two brothers, Gerald and wife, Gloria and Kenneth and wife, Peggy, all of Cambridge; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be set at a later date.
