ELWOOD, Nebraska -- Bilva Jane Hueftle, 79, died Wednesday (June 8, 2011) at her home.

She was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Cambridge, Nebraska to Alton and Frances (Marples) Schultz. She attended school in Moorefield, Nebraska and graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska. She attended Wesleyan University.

In 1950, she married Chuck Hueftle, and to this union three children were born; they later divorced. She returned to college and graduated from Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in education. She later graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a master's degree. She taught special education for 26 years before retiring in 1996, and moving to Johnson Lake to be near her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Gayle.

She is survived by her special friend, Gene Fenton of Elwood; daughter, Cindy and husband, Scot Schutz of Elwood; son, Bruce and wife, Sharon Hueftle of Eustis, Nebraska; sister, Audrey Bones of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with the Revs. Neil Kloppenburg and John Anderson officiating. Inurnment is at the Eustis West Cemetery in Eustis.
